Rumor – AC/DC “Live At Donington” Expansion Coming To Rock Band 2

AC/DC Expansion Rock Band 2

Rock Band 2 has finally given us the opportunity to rock out to AC/DC, which makes us wonder if we’ll be seeing any more from the Australian rockers. Surely Harmonix has something else up their sleeve, right? Well if the rumor mill is to be believed, then yes they do.

The blurry picture above is from a Wal-Mart stock listing that describes an AC/DC “Live at Donington” expansion pack for Rock Band 2. Were this to be a correct listing, it would only raise a few questions. First, with as much success as Harmonix has had with DLC, why release an expansion pack? I have a theory or two after the jump.

First, what if Harmonix wanted to give gamers a really good reason to upgrade to Rock Band 2, aside from the new features and songs included on the disc? They could do this by releasing an expansion disc chock full of AC/DC that could only be used in conjunction with Rock Band 2. Another possibility is that it was part of the agreement which allowed Harmonix access to the band’s music.

Either way, what I’m concerned with most is whether or not I’ll be able to access the AC/DC tracks without popping in my disc all the time. If I have to switch between discs just to play some AC/DC, chances are that it will go mostly unplayed. I’ve got faith that Harmonix knows their fans better than that, and we’ll see some sort of method for ripping the songs similar to the tracks from RB1.
