There are some games from your youth that you’ll recall fondly with your friends, remembering the hours that you sank into them. You’ll talk of your exploits, accomplishments, and that one time you totally kicked someone’s ass in it. Marvel vs. Capcom would be one such title for me. For the last decade I have patiently waited for a third installment of the franchise, but not even a scrap of news has reached my ears until today.
After a 10-year hiatus from the franchise, Marvel and Capcom have once again teamed up for their third fighting game. Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two worlds will be smashing its way onto the PS3 and Xbox 360 in the Spring of 2011. Yes, we still have to wait another year, but it’s already been ten. What’s one more?
Here’s what we know so far. The game has around 30 characters thus far, and they’re working to get more in before launch. We know that this includes newcomer Chris Redfield, in addition to old favorites like Wolverine, Ryu and Morrigan. They have made the move to 3D graphics, with a similar style to what we’ve seen in Street Fighter IV.
Looks like I’ve got a year to get the GamerFront arcade cabinet decked out with new some shiny new hardware to play this. After all, what better way to play a fighter than on a stand-up arcade unit?
