Metroid: Other M Live-Action Commercial – Samus Lives
I guess the thoughts in the heads of the people at Nintendo HQ are those of, “Well, it worked for Halo didn’t it? Well it will work for Metroid too!”
Those same people put their heads together and came up with what we see here, a live-action Metroid: Other M commercial. Seeing the way that Halo is being marketed now, this seems to be a big hit. I, for one, rather enjoy these live-action treasures.
This is a little different for a Nintendo ad, just because of the sheer adult-ness of it. We see in the commercial that Samus is walking around in her Zero Suit nearly the whole time, possibly showing the true woman underneath, almost advertising that she is human like the rest of us. It almost gives us that supernatural view on the Metroid series. I may be seeing this is a different light, but I believe this brings us a little closer inside the mind of Samus, and what she is all about.
True, Samus is a sex symbol. Men want her, and women want to be her (the nerdy ones anyway). Some will say that she doesn’t need to be “perusing” around in her Zero Suit, swinging her hips and whatnot, but others see it as the idea of beauty AND brawn together.
Either way you look at it, the Metroid series has created a character that we can all look to, for whatever reason we choose. I absolutely can’t wait for this game’s release later this month.
