Bungie Already Working On New Game Engine For Project With Activision

A while ago Bungie had already made decisions to work with Activision on creating a new project to release from the esteemed Halo series developer. Bungie is now announcing that they are working on their own game engine for the project to be run on. Bungie’s Brian Jarrard explained, “Just like we don’t want to develop a game off of someone else’s IP, we want to push our own technology in the same way. That’s going to be our position for the the forseeable future.”

The new game is being worked on currently, although it is in its early beginning stages. “Yeah [the new engine is] actually in development, so I would say it’s in a stage where, technically we’re still at the end of pre-production mode”, says Jarrard. He did admit, however, that now since Halo: Reach is finished the entire weight of the Bungie team is rolling on the project. “Real work is underway”, Jarrard finishes.

I can’t wait to see what Bungie has underway, what with the release of Halo: Reach being today. We will be sure to keep our eyes open and keep one out for news from the developer.
