Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim Details Finally Materialize

I am extremely excited (although not ready) to lose many weeks of my life to the new entry into the Bethesda Elder Scrolls RPG series, the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Details about the game have finally surfaced on the net, and we were lucky to get some of them. The excitement is overpowering.

Skyrim will introduce many changes to the series, after all, it is the first Elder Scrolls title to be a direct sequel. Another change to the series is the new leveling system, in which players are no longer bound to a set of skills. Players will be able to select from the game’s 18 abilities (which is chopped from Oblivion’s 21), all of which level up with use while unlocking new perks with each level gain.

Enemies will scale with the player’s level as well, much like with the Fallout series. Using a more balanced metric system, players won’t have to face overpowered opponents immediately from the start like usual with Elder Scrolls titles. This makes for easier leveling, as well as the ability to feel more free with the game’s setting.

Perhaps one of the best new features in the Elder Scrolls universe is the ability to Dual Wield. Yes, players can now Dual Wield, equipping a spell or weapon to each hand to use simultaneously in combat. I am extremely excited about this new feature, as I feel it will being more options and playability to the series.

Be sure to check out the newest upcoming issue of Game Informer for more information on Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, including improved character creation tools, and a new weapon-crafting system.
