Bungie Says That Their MMO Announcement Was A Joke

This past weekend at GDC, David Aldridge from Bungie made an announcement that their next game would be “massively-multiplayer” like “WoW in space.” Now Bungie is rescinding that statement, declaring it as a joke.

The update from Bungie states:

“Now, in rehearsal Aldridge was convinced that everybody got the joke. It was all in the delivery, he assured us, and he was certain it was clear that he was playfully riffing off of the recent rumors.”

It seems to me that he was possibly incorrect in that assumption. While the statement doesn’t outright deny the MMO rumor, we still can’t know exactly what to expect from the game developer.
