LAN War XX

As you likely know, last weekend we participated in IU’s 20th LAN War. We were there to not only game it up, but to also give away some swag from NZXT and G8. A big thanks to both companies for providing these items. Most of the prizes went into the general  giveaway, with the winner selected at random. However, we held back one of the two NZXT Phantoms for a special giveaway.

When coming out to a LAN party such as this, people like to show off their sweet gaming rigs. However, A fancy case is not always the first priority when upgrading a computer. Since it doesn’t have much of an impact on the performance of the system, those on a very tight budget might pass off on upgrading their chassis for years. Having found ourselves in that spot before, we decided that we should give one of the Phantoms to the person with the ugliest case.

After looking over roughly 200 systems, we settled on three finalists whose systems were in need of a new look. About halfway through the night, we had the crowd gather around to select which of these three cases was the most in need of replacing. As you can see from the pictures below, the winner was very much in need of a new case. Needless to say, he was more than a little excited to be able to swap out for the Phantom.

If you want a feel for how the event went, flip through the images below. IU Gaming hosts their LAN War twice a year, so we’ll see you at the next one this fall!
