Outland Now Available Via PSN, Along With Behind-The-Scenes Video

The time has finally come, and Outland is now available for download on the PlayStation Network. The game is essentially a platform/Ikaruga mash-up, just as the PlayStation Blog describes, which only does the game plenty of justice. The game was first announced last year, and it had a short preview at PAX East 2011.

The game follows a very simple, yet genius plot line: “You’re following in the footsteps of an ancient hero looking to prevent the destruction of the world at the hands of the goddesses of chaos, ” according to the blog. The use of polarity switching has been included, just as is Ikaruga. Certain enemies are weaker to a different polarity, forcing the player to strategize and carefully execute battle plans.

Housemarque, known for their work on Dead Nation and Super Stardust HD, has been hard at work on Outland, and they’ve received a ton of praise for the game. All of the praise is definitely deserved, though, just take a look at the game. Players can pick up Outland on the PSN for $9.99, which is a great price for the title. Below is a behind-the-scenes video with Housemarque, so check it out for a special look at the game.
