Some Details On Skyrim’s DLC Plans

With The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Bethesda is taking the “less is more” approach when it comes to DLC. In an interview with AusGamers, Game Director Todd Howard revealed some details behind the company’s plan for DLC releases, saying that the content will be “more substantial” than what was seen with Fallout 3.

“So right now I can say that we’d like to do less DLC but bigger ones – you know, more substantial. The Fallout 3 pace that we did was very chaotic. We did a lot of them – we had two overlapping groups – and we don’t know what we’re going to make yet, but we’d like them to be closer to an expansion pack feel.”

Another piece of information picked up from Howard was that the DLC will only be available after the mains story is conquered, which knocks out one of the biggest complaints about Fallout 3. Though no post-launch episodes have been planned, this is a good way to approach downloadable content.

With less DLC, the company can put more focus and detail into each release, making it much more interactive and fun. With Skyrim already being a large title, we can only imagine what we would see in the realm of DLC packs. Do you have any ideas?
