Battlefield 3 Will Not Receive Any Official Mod Tools

PC gamers everywhere will surely go all “Juggernaut” on Dice after their latest move in the business, as they decided that Battlefield 3 will not be getting any official mod tools for players to toy with. This news comes from Patrick Soderlund, a studio exec from Dice who was speaking in an interview with German gaming magazine GameStar.

Soderlund stated in the interview, “If you look at the Frostbite engine, and how complex it is, it’s going to be very difficult for people to mod the game, because of the nature of the set up of levels, of the destruction and all those things… it’s quite tricky. So we think it’s going to be too big of a challenge for people to make a mod.”

This decision is expected to upset the PC community, but it also puts them to the test. This means that the community will be forced to create their own mod tools to create additional content for the game. The Frostbite 2.0 engine is new and complex, but I am sure that with enough studying and time someone out there will find a workaround, right?
