Dishonored Is Bethesda’s New First-Person Action Title

During last year’s QuakeCon in August, Bethesda announced its acquisition of Arkane Studios. Arkane CEO Raphael Colantonio promised us all that the company would reveal their new game in the future, and we’ve been patiently waiting. As you can see above, the cover of the August issue of GameInformer boasts quite a new title that we’ve yet to see, which can only mean one thing: this is what we’ve been waiting for.

Let us introduce you to Dishonored, the latest project from the studio that brought us Dark Messiah of Might & Magic. The team behind the game consists of some pretty heavy amounts of talent, such as Harvey Smith from Deus Ex, and Viktor Antonov, the artist behind Half-Life 2’s City 17. With all of this talent in one place, it will be extremely difficult to bottle up our excitement for this game.

As described by the company, this is what to expect from Dishonored:

Dishonored is the antithesis of a edge-of-your-seat roller-coaster ride. It’s a game about assassination where you don’t have to kill anyone. It’s a game about infiltration where you can set up traps and slaughter the entire garrison of an aristocrat’s mansion rather than sneak in. It’s a game about brutal violence where you can slip in and out of a fortified barracks with nobody ever knowing you were there. It’s a game about morality and player choice where the world you create is based on your actions, not navigating conversation trees.

The game will release for all major platforms, those being Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and it is set to hit sometime in 2012. For more details on the game, be sure to pick up the August issue of GameInformer, and try to contain your excitement.
