Valve Announces DotA 2 Tournament At Gamescom 2011

Valve has just announced something called “The International,” which is a DotA 2 tournament that will take place during this year’s Gamescom event in Europe.

Gabe Newell, the founder of Valve, stated that, “The International is the first public Dota 2 event and will give the tens of millions of gamers playing Dota around the world their first look at the new game. I have had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the level of play is extraordinary.”

Gamescom will run from August 17th through the 21st, and the tournament will be broadcast in a handful of languages. Players can see this tournament in Chinese, English, German, and Russian. We look forward to seeing more details about the tournament, and about the game itself. Are you excited?
