Portal Is Free Until September 20

If you’re a PC gamer and you haven’t yet played Portal, you need to stop what you’re doing and go play it now. What’s that? You haven’t bought it yet? Money is tight, so I get that. Well I’ll let you in on a little secret. Go to Steam now, and you can get it for free.

Valve has launched a new site called Learn With Portals. The site is aimed at educators who want to use the Portal games in their classrooms to teach about a variety of subjects such as physics, math, logic, spatial reasoning, probability, and problem-solving. So what does that have to do with you? Well, the site is also there to inform educators (along with the rest of the world) that the original Portal is free on both Mac and PC.

No, this isn’t a permanent thing. You’ll have until September 20th to get your free copy. All you need to do is login to your Steam account (you’ll need to register one if you haven’t already) and then head to the Portal page. Click “Play Game” and you’ll be set. If you’ve got multiple people/computers in your house, there’s no reason not to make a new account for someone else and getting a copy of this game for them.
