Tanooki Tail Powerup Confirmed For Mario Kart 7

When Super Mario Bros. 3 came out, everyone was introduced to the single greatest powerup in video game history. That’s right, the Tanooki suit. You might be thinking that I’m going a bit over-the-top with my description, but this thing had it all. It enabled Mario to fly, made him virtually invisible to enemies, invulnerable to ranged attacks (including those of Bowser) and gave you an attack that that killed practically anything. What more do you people want?!

Sorry, I blacked out there for a moment. Anyway, we have learned that our favorite Mario powerup is making its way into Mario Kart 7 (they named it that because it’s the seventh Mario Kart, you know). What’s strange is that you’re not actually getting the whole Tanooki suit, and it’s not attached to your character.

Once you pick up the powerup, your kart will sprout a giant Tanooki tail, which you can use to knock out other racers. This only leaves us guessing at just how the powerup works. Details such as how long it lasts, and how many attacks you can get with it will plague out minds until we find the answer.
