Update For The Binding of Isaac On The Way, New Demo Available Now

Last week a brand new title from Team Meat was released on Steam for the PC. This new title, The Binding of Isaac, has been received quite well by gamers, and it’s received a relatively high Metascore as well. Following the success of this release, the developer is proud to announce a new update coming for the title, as well as a playable demo that can be found via the net.

The Binding of Isaac is labeled as a “side project” for Edmund McMillen, one half of the duo that is Team Meat. The game centers around a character named Isaac, who is told by his mother that a sacrifice must be made to prove her faith to God. In pursuing this sacrifice, Isaac must enter the bowels of his basement facing off against teeming amounts of ghastly enemies, bosses, and eventually his own mother. The game is a randomly-generated dungeon-crawler, and pays homage to games such as the early titles of the Zelda series, with a shooter-like twist.

The “Flash Demo” of The Binding of Isaac is now live on Newgrounds, and players can take advantage of two of the game’s first levels, along with 8 possible bosses and over 60 usable items. This demo is described by McMillen to provide players with “enough to get your feet wet and I believe it gives a good sense of what the full game has to offer.” A major update to the game, due out this Halloween, will be entirely free and consist of over 20 new items, 3 new bosses, a new playable character, more achievements, and a new “final chapter” for those who have “finished” the game. If you haven’t gotten the chance to check out the game yet, I strongly urge you to do so. It looks like Team Meat knows exactly what to offer fans, and their newest endeavor is surely not disappointing.
