Activision Takes YouTuber’s Videos Down – Forces You To Pay To Watch Them

Stuart Brown, or XboxAhoy, is a gamer turned YouTube commentator that the Call of Duty crowd has fallen in love with. He creates weapon guides for the community that are considered to be some of the best production videos geared towards the Call of Duty series. People like him for his knowledge, his soothing voice, and the quality he puts into the production of his videos. Many websites feature his videos all over the place and it’s this acceptance that motivates him to do more and more.

He’s been making these videos since Modern Warfare 2, and since that time Activision has taken notice. Leading up to the release of Modern Warfare 3, Activision decided that they needed him on their side and signed him to produce the weapon guides for Elite TV, the pay to use Call of Duty community. Stuart didn’t want to disappoint his YouTube fans, so he made different weapon guides for YouTube. They were the abridged version of the Call of Duty Elite videos. The Elite versions were 3 minutes long and the abridged versions were 1 minute and 45 seconds long with a completely different format and layover.

It would have been easy for Stuart to totally forget about his YouTube fans and just release the Elite versions to paying Call of Duty customers but he didn’t take that route. Everything was going okay until last Friday. He had gotten through 10 complete abridged weapon guides for his YouTube fans when all of a sudden Activision asked for him to take them down. Stuart complied and the videos were then erased from the account. This is a shame for Activision to do this and I hope Stuart can get these videos back up for his loyal YouTube fans. There are also rules you should follow to avoid being demonetized on YouTube.
