Bethesda Details PS3 Owners On Upcoming Patch Plans

The Skyrim 1.2 patch went live last week, and it was promised to fix a lot of the current issues that were plaguing the game across all platforms. Though it was supposed to correct issues with PS3 owners’ save game files and play hours, it’s actually been making the game worse. Some even say their game has become unplayable, and it’s causing a lot of distress among the community. After this recent upset, Bethesda released a statement promising to be more careful with updates in the future.

Still, the PS3 owners were left displeased with the outcome that has been delivered from the developer as of late. This has caused an uprising of questions from these players across the community, and Bethesda has reached out to help give some insight to their plans for further updates on the game. The developer is really stressing an effort to make things right, and they want the community to know.

Once again on the official Bethesda blog, the developer posted details on their plans to process further patches to fix the problems with Skyrim. Speaking to PS3 owners, the post states that “the 1.2 update fixed the long-term play issues for most PS3 users.” Bethesda is aware, however, that this necessarily “is not the case for some.” They are even going as far as to grab the save files of gamers who are still experiencing issues in efforts to really snuff out the problems.

The blog continues to say that, “Right now we know it’s not one thing, but a combination of smaller ones that some folks are seeing, but others are not. Some seem to be the PS3 autosaving in the background (you can turn that off), some may be SPU AI updates, and some may relate to dynamic system memory allocation. These fixes are not in the current 1.3 update that is in final testing, but will be in future ones. We understand how frustrating it can be when your game is having issues, and we thank all of you for your continued feedback and patience. Rest assured we take your gameplay experience seriously and will continue working on this until it’s resolved.”

The end of the post concludes with the acknowledgement that these fixes for PS3 players are not the 1.3 update that’s made its way to its final stages, “but it will be in future ones.” There’s no details as to when the 1.3 update will roll out, nor are there any for how many more updates the developer is planning. It is good, however, that they are really looking at gamer feedback, and putting it to good use. For more information, head on over to the Bethesda blog.

One Response to “Bethesda Details PS3 Owners On Upcoming Patch Plans”

  1. The Future of Sega says:

I guess the game is not worth purchasing then.

Strike 1: Bethesda giving Xbox 360 30 days of exclusive downloadable content.

Strike 2: Bethesda selling Skyrim which clearly was not properly tested and maximized on all consoles, especially PS3.

Strike 3: Bethesda uncaring, and unsympathetic long response to address lagging and other issues on the PS3 version of Skyrim.

Bethesda if you don’t care about providing a fair advantage in gaming for PS3 gamers and continue to provide Microsoft the upper hand, by all means keep your products to yourself. You are a despicable, disgusting company with bad practices.

I hope this Skyrim ordeal adds a negative impact to all future sales of your company. You have treated PS3 owners wrong for the last time. We will no longer tolerate such vile behavior from you Bethesda.

Expect nothing more but negativity until you have atoned for your wrong doing against PS3 owners (PS3 Skyrim problems, not adding rumble support to PS3 Oblivion, PS3 Fallout 3 bugs, etc.)
