D&D Online To Get First Expansion This Summer

Over the years a lot of MMOs have shown up, and a number of them that were once popular, have since been abandoned. Dungeons & Dragons Online is one that I’ve not expected to last much longer. The last time I really remember hearing anything exciting about the game was when it went free-to-play back in 2009. Well the game has been chugging along, much the same as ever, but change is on the horizon.

Turbine has announced that they will be releasing the very first expansion for DDO on June 25th. Titled Menace of the Underdark, this addon will take you into the Forgotten Realms, which is no doubt one of the most recognizable areas in the D&D universe. The question is whether or not this additional content will be enough to renew interest in a game that’s roughly six years old.

The new expansion will add three different areas – The Kings’ Forest, The Underdark and The Demonweb, and the level cap will be raised from 20 to 25. You can now pre-order the expansion, which comes in three flavors: Base, Standard and Collector’s Editions. The prices will be $30, $50 and $80, respectively.
