A Fan Campaign Has Begun To Change The Ending To Mass Effect 3?

So Mass Effect 3 has been out for almost a week now, and already players have reached its end. Some players are enjoying the multiplayer that comes with the game while others are, well, coming together to make a petition to change the ending of the game. That’s right – it seems as if more than just a few gamers out there aren’t too excited with how BioWare ended the blockbuster title, and they want something done about it.

This poll is rapidly picking up, and is amassing over 20,000 signatures for the players’ cause. This is already raising eyebrows and questions among the community, and I can see how the process is running. I won’t spoil the ending of the game for you, but I’ll say it was… anticlimactic. Now, looking at what fans want to accomplish with this petition, it’s only obvious how it would be delivered: DLC. This means that the developer would need to grab a new team, set them to work on a better story’s end, and then get it playable to the masses. That being said, it means that EA would have to get through publishing, and there’s where a wrench would hit the cogs. “You want another ending to this game,” EA will say. “You don’t like what’s been provided for you? Well, then you’ll have to pay for this New Ending DLC!”

What we have here is a group of people who are insisting that there be changes to a story that they, themselves, did not create. They want more labor put in, more content pushed out, and expect it in a timely manner. Do you think this would be done for free? Some are saying that this is becoming a “Battlefield-ization” of the Mass Effect game, and I agree with that. It basically means that the community will constantly make aware their disdain for a game that they payed for at full price and play on a regular basis. I seriously can’t see this happening, but good try.
