A lot of fans are waiting, foaming at the mouths, for the upcoming Darksiders II title. THQ had not too long ago announced that the game would launch on June 26th this year, which got players all filled with excitement. In a recent interview with RipTen, however, it looks like this launch date may be slipping away due to the troubles that the publisher has been having.
The past six months have been less than gravy for THQ. There have been layoffs as well as a number of other financial problems that have hit the company like a tidal wave. In the interview, Executive Vice President Danny Bilson offers up some insight on how the publisher is pulling out of the hole into which they’ve slipped. He was asked specifically if Darksiders II would ship on its June 26th announcement date, and that’s where things got iffy. A PR rep chimed in, saying, “Honestly, I can’t confirm that right now.” Bilson goes on after this, explaining that the game is “looking really, really good. It’s a huge game.” Is this his way of telling us that the date will be pushed back?
Continuing on in the interview, Bilson explains that THQ simply will not ship the game until it’s done, but there haven’t been any announcements on a chance for delay. The publisher has been hit pretty hard within the last half a year, and this game could be their one saving grace. Though no solid confirmation has been released on whether or not the ship date will be pressed back, the signs aren’t looking good. Let’s just keep hoping for now, and as news comes on Darksiders II, we’ll keep you posted.
