Doom 3 Returns With BFG Edition Across All Platforms

Get ready to face your demons all over again in Doom 3 with the new BFG edition that id Software has announced. This new version of the game will sport a fully remastered and expanded edition of what’s given many a gamer nightmares, and it’ll be releasing sometime this fall.

With the BFG Edition players will get the original Doom and Doom 2, and an all-new entry in the series called The Lost Mission. The Lost Mission will be a new single-player story that spans seven new levels. The new version will also sport upgraded graphics, support for 3D, support for head-mounted displays, improved rendering, and 5.1 surround sound. This is the real deal, folks.

Something else that’s new to the game is a checkpoint system for saving progress. It’s being implemented for “smoother progression” through the game’s tougher spots. There will also be Trophies and Achievements for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. Finally, there will be an armor-mounted flashlight that will help players see in dark spaces while killing enemies at the same time.

I’m excited to see Doom 3 return. If it looks anything like RAGE did the game will be magnificent. I think fans of the Doom series deserve something like this, as long as the price isn’t something crazy. I remember being completely freaked out playing Doom 3 on the original Xbox, though now I think I’ll pick up the game on PC. Are you ready to go back to Hell?
