Dragon’s Dogma Hits One Million Units Sold, Sequel In The Works

Capcom has announced that Dragon’s Dogma has sold one million copies so far since the epic RPG’s release. Because of this, the company has claimed that the game has earned a place as a “major franchise.” With this being said by Capcom, it’s enough to say that there’s a confirmation in that statement that will set a sequel to release.

Capcom’s press release shows that the game set one-week sales records over in Japan for a new title released in the past 10 years total. With this status achieved, Dragon’s Dogma has become Capcom’s 55th million-selling game. The press release doesn’t confirm the sequel outright, but there is some wording that states, “Capcom plans to add more titles to the lineups of its core game franchises.” From there you can just put 2 and 2 together.

Dragon’s Dogma kind of reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus. It’s not exactly on-par with the colossi-killer, but it’s got somewhat the same premise. You basically tackle humongous beasts and stab their weak spots with your blade. Though the game is far from perfect, it’s a whole lot of fun. I’m looking forward to seeing where this new “major franchise” will go from here.
