7,000+ Game Collection Sells For $1.2 Million

How big is your game collection? I’m not talking about your Steam library, just physical copies. Now, let’s narrow it down further by seeing how many games you have that are still in their original wrappings. For me, the number is a whopping two. One is autographed, and the other a joke. If I were to take these games to eBay, I might fetch enough to get a nice lunch. One eBay user had enough such games to fetch roughly 1.2 million dollars.

While it’s true that not all of the games in this collection are factory sealed, a lot of them are. For instance, the seller had every single GameCube game, all of which are still factory sealed. What’s amazing though is that the collection contained almost every game from the original Famicom through the GameCube era, excluding Xbox and PlayStation titles. In all, there are 22 complete sets of games, all from the Japanese releases. (That means games that didn’t release in Japan, such as Shaq-Fu would not be included in the lot. Tragic, we know.)

While you might sit back and wish that you could throw your lot of games up on eBay to fetch a hefty sum, it’s highly unlikely that it would work out. This individual has been collection for many years, essentially leading up to this point of auctioning off their games.
