SolForge – The Next Evolution In Trading Card Games? [Gen Con 2012]

Gary Games, the makers of the amazing Ascension deckbuilding game, have gotten some new tricks up their sleeve in the way of games. They’ve been teasing via Facebook and Twitter about a new game they’re calling SolForge. According to them, SolForge is the “next evolution in trading card games.”

Gary Games hasn’t released any details about the game yet, though they’ve been posting some amazing preview art on their Facebook page. There’s a lot of open wonder and debate about the game, and if it’s set up to be a TCG, it could be something amazing. Right now holding the top spot on the TCG leaderboards is still Magic: The Gathering, and the way Gary Games is talking SolForge could bring in some heavy competition.

One thing the developers have promised is that a huge announcement will be coming August 1st. I’ve also found out that there will be a showing at this year’s Gen Con 2012 event. I don’t really know what to expect with SolForge, but I will say that I love the artwork so far. It’s very different from what we’ve seen with Ascension and I really like that. I’d love to see something along the ways of Magic, where the player uses a life total, summons creatures, and casts spells. I don’t know how the game will play out, but I’m excited for it. If you’re interested, make sure you sign up on the SolForge official website and check back here for updates. August 1st can’t come quick enough!
