When you’re playing a game that involves survival, you tend to rely on a weapon to get you through it. Sure, some games have you navigating around with little more than a lantern, but generally speaking, there tends to be a gun in your hand. Naturally, as you progress, you tend to have a favorite armament. But isn’t it always more fulfilling when you make the weapon yourself? One of the things I loved about Dead Rising 2 was killing zombies with something I’d put together on a workbench. Well that’s just the thing you can look forward to in Dead Space 3.
While you’re out trying to survive the Necromorph plague, you’ll find a variety of components from a long-lost expedition. When you bring these pieces to a workbench, you’ll be able to assemble them into specialized killing machines. From the examples given in the video below, it looks like you’ll be able to essentially fire two different types of munitions on one weapon. However, virtually every aspect of the weapon will be completely customizable.
Once you have constructed something that’s particularly awesome at inflicting death, you can share your creation with your friends. In fact, you can try your hand at designing a weapon right now. If your gun is good enough, EA might just make it an official weapon in the game. You’ve got until September 1st to submit your entries.
