HAWKEN Will Ship With Full Support For The Oculus Rift

We’ve had a look at the Oculus Rift before. This device promises to deliver the closest thing to virtual reality that we’ve seen so far. It plans to do this by giving you the ability to move your head, and actually have the display move around with you. This allows you to look around in a game the same way you’d do it in real life.

While the device looks promising, if there aren’t enough games that support it, it will fade into obscurity. When the Kickstarter was announced (it’s more than met its goal, so don’t worry), the only game that was going to have support for it was Doom 3 BFG Edition. However, a new game has been added to that lineup.

We’ve been informed that upcoming mech combat game HAWKEN will have full support for the Oculus Rift. When the first developer units go out, those receiving them will be able to experience the full range of the device’s capabilities, as they go head-to-head with other mech pilots. HAWKEN is set to launch on December 12th of this year. The official release for the Oculus Rift has not yet been set.
