Last week we wrote about how the patch for the Xbox 360 version of the Silent Hill HD Collection was cancelled. While many people are of course disappointed with the fact that their game will remain essentially broken, I think the bigger implication is that Konami could have potentially faced some sort of legal trouble, most likely from a class action lawsuit from some diehard fans, by doing nothing. Luckily for the scorned fans, Konami is going to attempt to fix the damage.
If you purchased an Xbox 360 version of the Silent Hill HD Collection on or before August 8th, you can send in your receipt to Konami’s Customer Service. Once they’ve verified that your receipt is valid, they’ll send you more information on how to actually exchange your copy of the game. Though they haven’t revealed exactly what the exchange will be for, when asked in the comment Konami responded that “the exchange is for other Konami titles or versions of titles.” My guess that means games of a similar cost, or even the PS3 version of the Silent Hill HD Collection, which has been patched.
Keep in mind, however, that Konami isn’t keeping open this exchange program forever. You have until October 7th to get your request for an exchange in to their customer service. But with that in mind, 2 months is plenty of time for anybody who wants to take advantage of this program to get their copy exchanged!
