Rocksmith Gets Bass Expansion On August 14

While Rock Band initially did a good job of slowly converting plastic rockers to real instrument players, Rocksmith is probably the best at teaching you how to play a guitar. After all, it’s meant to be used with any real (electric) guitar, which certainly helps. But what if you want to learn to play bass?

Later this month, Ubisoft is releasing the Bass Expansion, which, as you might imagine, teaches you to play bass. The expansion will set you back $30, but that’s going to unlock the bass parts for any of the songs you currently own, including DLC. The only ones it won’t work for are tracks that don’t feature a bass.

If you’re worried that you’ll need to buy a new instrument, the game will allow you to substitute a guitar, by only using the first four strings. However, they do still recommend using an actual bass. The new bass mode will focus on 2-finger plucking, slapping and slapping. Look for the expansion on August 14th.
