The First Paladin – A D&D Campaign Site By Peter Adkinson

Gen Con 2012 ended last weekend with a huge bang. It was great to go to such an event that’s held by people who are into the same things as I am. The people who started Gen Con are gamers like me, and like most of you out there. When you hear that these folks are just like you it humbles you a bit, doesn’t it?

That being said it’s no surprise that Peter Adkinson, the owner of Gen Con, has been a long-time fan of Dungeons & Dragons. After all, Gary Gygax helped get Gen Con off the ground! Some news that came through the con was that Adkinson has started a brand new website to chronicle his D&D campaign throughout its run. The site is called The First Paladin, and it’s a brand new way to experience D&D.

This campaign is being played with D&D Next rules and Adkinson takes the helm as the devout Dungeon Master. Fans can tune in to see how the campaign unfolds as well as learn about the characters involved. The first four scenes of the webseries has already premiered and over the next year it will continue to play out.

Adkinson commented on the reveal of the site saying, “The First Paladin is exciting on so many levels for all of us who love D&D, RPG’s, and the true art of storytelling. It’s a radical approach to find out if we can tell a compelling story that isn’t fully scripted out. The way the story plays out over time depends on what choices the characters make and how I as the game master respond.”

The First Paladin is set in Adkinson’s world of Chaldea, which has been in existence since 1981. In between episodes of the series there will be narrative shorts that will offer more insight to the characters and world of Chaldea. If you’re into D&D at all this is a perfect opportunity to not only see examples of how D&D Next works out, but also to gain more knowledge on how other games are run. It’s definitely worth checking out.
