Wii U Gains Rayman Legends As An Exclusive Title

Whenever a new console is released, its success depends in part upon its exclusive titles. After all, if all consoles carried the same games, what’s going to keep your potential customers from buying another system that may be cheaper and/or more powerful? It’s those exclusive titles that entice many different people into picking one console over another.

Ubisoft announced yesterday that the Wii U will be gaining such an exclusive title in Rayman Legends. The game was showcased during E3, and though at the time it was running on Wii U hardware it wasn’t known at the time if the game was going to be released on other platforms or not. Now it appears that for the time being the answer is definitely “not”.

Rayman Legends isn’t the only Wii U exclusive title from Ubisoft, either! Ubisoft will also be releasing ZombiU as an exclusive title, which will make good use of the Wii U’s touchpad controller. Of course, at some point both games could be used on other systems, but I think it’s safe to say that it won’t be happening any time soon.

LAME! their rayman game engine exists on many platforms already, so porting this game to other systems would have been easy. A political and financial move to benefit the gaming companies, at the expense of the gamers!
