Guardians of Middle Earth Receives PS3 Release Date

Though I may not be the best at them, I really do enjoy MOBA games. I also enjoy Lord of the Rings. When you take the two of them and smash them together, you get something that looks like Guardians of Middle Earth. In fact, that’s exactly what you get.

Guardians of Middle Earth is a MOBA game that’s themed for Lord of the Rings. Players will take control of some of the iconic characters in Tolkien’s world of Middle Earth as they fight amongst each other in the name of good and evil. Each character will have their own special abilities and be geared for different styles of play.

The game will be available as a downloadable title for both Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. The release window for the XBLA version of the game has been pinged at “autumn” for some time now, and we’re still waiting. The PSN version, however, has just received an official release date of December 4th.

Guardians of Middle Earth will run 1200 Microsoft Points on the Xbox, though PS3 owners will pick it up in one of two different ways. The downloadable title will be available at $14.99 but a boxed version will also be available and it’ll run $29.99. The reason for this is because the retail version will come with pre-paid discounted prices for future DLC, PSN vouchers, and a season pass for the game. Either way, I’ll be waiting to pick this up on the 360.
