Ever since Steam was first launched over 9 years ago it’s always been about one thing and one thing only: games. Sure, some of the titles on Steam were less like games and more like constructor sets (I’m looking at you, Garry’s Mod), but in the end, when you dug right to the heart of things they were still games. To say that Steam has been profitable with this model of focusing on games would be an understatement.
Now it looks like Steam is about to become even more profitable as Valve has now released the first set of non-gaming software to be sold on Steam. The list include 3D-Coat, ArtRage Studio Pro, 3DMark Vantage, 3DMark 11, and CameraBag 2.What’s more, all of that software is on sale for 10% off it’s normal price, which is a good way to get some people to try out something like the 3DMark programs.
If you want to try out your gaming green thumb, you can also pick up the GameMaker: Studio Master Collection. It’s also on sale for 10% off, but it’s still going to leave a helluva big dent in your wallet: $449.99! Luckily, if you want to get into the movie business the Source Filmmaker is also in the Software section and it is free!
