Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Announced For The Wii U

Growing up I had a Sega Genesis instead of an SNES as a young boy, meaning that as a whole my Legend of Zelda experience is rather small. I did play through a couple of LoZ games however, with the first one beingLink’s Awakeningfor the GameBoy, which is one of my favorite games of all time. The second LoZ game I played wasWind Waker for the GameCube, and despite some LoZ fans unease at the cel-shading style I found it to be one of my more memorable games for the system.

For those fans who have been wanting to play Wind Waker in HD, I have some great news. Nintendo announced earlier today that Wind Waker is being remade into HD, and will be released for the Wii U sometime this fall. They also let it be known that they are making a brand new LoZ game as well, although at this time they are not ready to announce the new title.

The remake isn’t going to be just a gussied up port of the original. Indeed, Nintendo does intend to make use of some of the Wii U’s features, including the ability to play the game completely through the GamePad. If I had a Wii U, I’ll admit that I’d think about picking this game up. After all, I did spend countless hours taking pictures to get the various statues, and I think the GamePad might even add an extra dynamic to it as well.
