The History Of Every Xbox 360 Controller

There are a lot of Xbox 360 controllers out there. Even if you just limit your search to official controllers released by Microsoft, there are still quite a few. How many, exactly? 31. That’s right, in a little over 7 years, Microsoft has released more than 30 different controllers, most of which are pictured above.

Over at XBLAFans, Steve Melton decided to embark on a quest to track down the details on each and every Xbox 360 controller that was released by Microsoft. Most were easy, as they were just simple color variations on the original white controller. Then he moved onto the special edition controllers that shipped with a variety of limited edition consoles. However, there are a few devices that are almost impossible to find.

Two of these especially rare controllers were store exclusives, which means you still had a shot at getting them. But the four on the bottom row are virtually impossible for someone to get their hands on. You needed to be a part of the launch team, a very important member of the press, or just a really lucky and dedicated Live member. If you happen to have any of these lying around, I’d hope that it is safe from Cheeto-covered hands.
