Black Ops 2 Getting Microtransactions Added To The Mix

There area few types of microtransactions in games out there these days, but really, there are two that stand out.  The first kind is cosmetic, where for a buck or two you can get yourself some new skins or some awesome avatar for your profile. The other kind, sadly, is the game altering type, where for a few bucks you can just go ahead and buy yourself an awesome weapon from minute one of the game, whereas other players have to spend days or weeks leveling just to get something of the same quality.

The reason why I bring it up is because Black Ops 2 is getting some microtransactions added to the game today, at least on the Xbox 360. Luckily, however, the content available for purchase is not game changing outside of cosmetics. Personalization packs will be available for 160 MS points, where you get a weapon camo, 3 different targeting reticules, and a custom player Calling Card.

If you want to show off your national pride, or perhaps you want to pay homage to your roots, you can get the Flags of the World Calling Card packs, where the packs will be divided by geographical region for 80 MS points. One of the best looking things available is the Extra Slots pack where for 160 MS points you get 10 class sets per game mode. Nuketown Zombies will be going on sale today as well for 400 MS points, and Nuketown 2025 will be coming out for free as well. All in all, this new content available is not required to be on an equal footing with other gamers. Instead, it’s merely for those people who don’t mind paying to make their character stand out from the rest.
