New 3DS Legend Of Zelda Game Has Been Announced!

When people list off some of the greatest video game series’ of all time, it’s not too often that you don’t see the Legend of Zelda on that list anywhere. After all, other than some crappy Phillips CD-i that weren’t even developed by Nintendo, the series has been spectacular, full of mystery and wonder. And out of all of those games, there’s a rather sizable group of people who claim that Link to the Past was the best LoZ game of all time.

If you’re one of those people who loved LttP, then you’re in luck! Nintendo announced yesterday that they were developing a direct sequel to the game, titled (in Japan) Kamigami no Triforce 2. Considering how Kamigami no Triforce was the Japanese title for A Link to the Past, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that the title is going to be simply A Link to the Past 2, though at the same time Nintendo might switch things up on us.

No matter what the title is, all that matters is that it is indeed a sequel to LttP, and is even using the same map from the original. One of the new moves for the game is an ability to turn into a drawing on walls in order to make your way around different corners. The game itself will also feature a whole new storyline, new puzzles, and new dungeons, though it wouldn’t surprise me a lot of those “new” dungeons end up being partly based in the old dungeons of LttP.

The game will be out for the 3DS sometime in the holiday season here in the West. Japan, however, won’t see it until early 2014.
