Digital games are great and all that, but they can take up a lot of space, especially on handheld systems that may have at the very most 32 GB’s of space. Of course, there’s always the option of deleting a few games to make more room on the card, but that’s presented a bit of a problem for the 3DS. You see, there’s been no sort of save-data backup feature, meaning if you delete the game from the card you’re also deleting the save-data as well.
At least, it had been that way up until now. Nintendo has launched the 6.0.0-11U update for the 3DS, and with this update you can finally back up your save-data for games that support this feature. This update allows you to back up your data on the SD card without the need of a PC.
There are two different ways to back up your data. The first way is through the Home menu: when you have a game selected, you can hit the little triangle icon and select the “Save-Data Backup” feature. The second way is through the System Settings menu, where you can backup, delete, or restore you saves through that menu.
