Xbox One Won’t Be Coming With A Headset

One of the nice extras that came with some Xbox 360 models was a little headset. Sure, it was in mono only, but it allowed you to plug it in to your controller and be able to chat with folks and leave voice messages to folks. If you’re planning on getting an Xbox One and were hoping that it would come with a headset, though, forget about it.

Microsoft has announced that there won’t be a headset that comes standard with the Xbox One. According to them, the new Kinect sensor comes with “a highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences.” I guess that’s one way to get folks to use the new Kinect.

If you really want a headset though, don’t worry. Microsoft will still be selling a new, sleek looking headset that like its predecessor it will plug right in to your controller. At this time there is no MSRP for the accessory, though according to Angry Joe it’ll be selling for 20 bucks.
