People give crap to yearly sports games for being the same year after year. After all, other than a few tweaks, many of those games seem to feature the same kind of gameplay it had last year, and what you’re essentially getting is an updated roster. However, Nintendo is calling out EA for its latest version ofFIFA, FIFA 14 Legacy Edition in a way.
In their latest press release, Nintendo had this to say about FIFA 14: “FIFA 14 Legacy Edition delivers unmatched authenticity that reflects the current football season with updated kits and rosters but no updates to gameplay or game modes.” Ouch. Usually when a company like Nintendo announces that a game is essentially just a roster update, that’s never very good. It just goes to show just how little EA cares about the 3DS.
FIFA 14 Legacy Edition is the only FIFA game being released on a Nintendo console this year. With the fact that Nintendo is being brutally honest about all this, I have to wonder just how much longer they’re going to let EA keep developing sports games for their consoles. After all, EA has been passing off inferior games like that for years onto Nintendo consoles.
