Let’s be honest, the PS4’s camera carries some similarities to Microsoft’s Kinect. After all, they both contain cameras and microphones to let people interact with the game like something out of Nick Arcade. Those similarities have only gotten stronger, as Sony has confirmed some extra features for the camera.
If you thought the gestures and voice commands on the Kinect were cool, but want the PS4, never fear! Sony has confirmed that the PS4 camera will have those very features for the camera. No word, however, on how well (or not) those features will work, though I imagine at some point we’ll be seeing some video showing it off.
In other PS4 news, Sony also revealed that the PS4 won’t encrypt the HDMI signal for games. That means if you’re looking to capture footage from a game directly using a capture card or something you’ll be able to do it. Keep in mind, however, that Blu-ray movies will still be encrypted, so don’t get any ideas about using that capture card on a movie burning scheme!
