With the PS4 coming out later this week it’s not a stretch to say that it’s going to be one helluva popular device. After all, it’s rumored that there are over 1.5 million preorders for the system, and that in itself is going to be a bit of a problem come Friday morning. After all, with all of those folks going online trying to download the day one update for system it’s likely that the PlayStation Network is going to be overwhelmed, and it just might take awhile to download the 300 MB update even if your internet is nice and quick.
Luckily for you the PS4 does support the ability to update the system via a USB flash drive! Sony has gone ahead and put up on their website the update needed to bring the PS4 up to snuff on day one. They have also given instructions on how exactly you can update the PS4 with the flash drive! It wouldn’t be a bad idea to pick up the update now, especially if you have a slower connection and you don’t feel like waiting to play with your new system when you first get it!
Updating the console is easy. All you have to do is make a folder in your flash drive titled “PS4”, make a folder inside of that named “UPDATE”, and then just place the update file inside of that second folder. From there, just plug the flash drive into the system, boot it up into safe mode, and just select “Update System Software” and you’re good to go!
