IU Gaming LAN War XXII – 4/14/12

This past weekend was IU Gaming’s LAN War XXII, where we debuted the Playseat Office Elite Fragfest. In case you missed the announcement, Playseat provided a couple of their awesome Office Elite chairs so that I could go head-to-head with anyone who wanted to play. I was taking challenges in Quake 4, with players walking away with prizes from various companies. The overall winner would walk away with a prize pack, and if they score went unbeaten for the rest of the year, they would get their very own Office Elite chair from Playseat. At this event, I was challenged over 50 times, which was more than 8 hours of Quake during the 12 hours we ran the contest. As I found out, the plan was to wear me down throughout the night. However, of those matches, only five were won by contestants. One of the first winners was Rob “kool” Jiang, president of the IU Gaming Club. He managed to get a 9-frag lead on me at the end of our 10 minute match. No one was able to top his score throughout the entirety of the night, but he wasn’t satisfied. Since we had already played two matches, with a win going to each, he came back just as we were wrapping up the contest for the final showdown. I quickly found out that he had been toying with me during our previous games, as he walked away with a final score of 21-0. Rob claimed the chair for himself at this point, stating that his score won’t be beat.

Boilerfrag 4.0 – 4/21/12

Just a mere week after LAN War, we traveled to West Lafayette, Indiana to Purdue University Gamers Group’s Boilerfrag. With nearly 200 people attending, there were plenty of challengers to be found. It took a good while for the ball to get rolling, with the contest being nearly halfway over before my first defeat was found. And the score of +2 seemed like it would last the night. However, in the last couple of hours that score jumped up to +9, and eventually +18. The high scorer did walk away with some nice prizes. However, IU’s kool still maintains the overall lead.

IU Gaming LAN War XXII – 10/13/12

Despite several events having passed, no one had been able to take the crown away from Rob “kool” Jiang.  Would he remain the champ after this event? Well Jeff “theJeffreh” VanderTill didn’t think so. After just one match, he was able to beat the old high score by 2 points. And due to scheduling conflicts, Rob “kool” Jiang was unable to defend his title. No one else at the event was able to even come close. And so we have our winner. Congratulations to Jeff “theJeffreh” VanderTill! He will be recieving his very own Office Elite chair, thanks to the guys at PlaySeat!
