I’ll admit that I’ve got a soft spot for animals. I’ve got a couple of pets myself, and I do my best to treat them right. I’m no animal rights activist or anything, but I don’t take kindly to animal abuse either. I also don’t care for PETA. Honestly, they’re a group of pretentious, self-righteous asshats that love nothing more than to shove their beliefs down other people’s throats. Oh, and last year they killed 2,209 of the animals they “rescued.” They only found homes for 7. Well if you want to have some anonymous fun with PETA protesters, you might want to log into World of Warcraft.
Apparently someone at PETA thought it would be a great idea to have an in-game rally to protest the killing of seals. In the game there does happen to be a place in the Howling Fjjord where you go and kill seals. So this Sunday they are rallying together to fight the people who are there to kill seals. Here are the details.
Lets break the stupidity down, shall we? First, this was posted on Monday, giving players a whopping 6 days to create a character on WhisperWind, and level it to 70. Sure, you can start out as a level 55 Death Knight (provided you already play the game and have a lvl 55 or higher character), but that still leaves 15 levels in 5 days. Yes it can be done, but who really wants to grind that much for a protest?
Next, they call this a “battleground”. Now anyone that’s played will tell you that this is not an actual battleground, so it’s more of an impromptu battleground. So this raises the question of just who they will be “battling.” I’m guessing that they’re referring to the people trying to complete their quests. Unfortunately that’s not called “battling” my friends, thats called “griefing.” I doubt the GMs will take kindly to this sort of action.
I’m still stuck on this whole “battle” thing. If they’re hoping to just start attacking people that refuse to abandon the quest, they’re in for a disappointment. If the people aren’t flagged for PvP, they can’t fight. In fact, the only way to prevent other people from killing the seals is to kill them first. How ironic.
Lastly, they don’t bother mentioning what faction people should be. I’m guessing they’re wanting you to be an Alliance character, but they don’t actually say. They give some stupid dialog about the seal fur being used by the Lich King, but that’s it. Perhaps they want people of both factions to show up. Boy, if they’re hoping to have a PvP battle of some sort, that’ll be really interesting.
So here’s a call to everyone that happens to be on WhisperWind. Round up your guildies, and anyone else you can find, and head to the meeting place this Saturday. Give the PETA folks a warm welcome, the same sort of welcome that they like to give people that they don’t agree with.
