Xbox Live Community Game Index – Too Long We’ve Waited

Ok, so you know how you can develop your own games for the Xbox Live Network using Microsoft’s stupid XDK or Xbox Development Kit? Well apparently its grown more popular than anyone ever thought it would, regardless, there is now a central, community-based, repository for rating these games.

The site is called “Xbox LIVE Community Games Index” and is quite the nifty tool if you are interested in getting into the Community Games without wasting a bunch of points on useless games such as “Rocket Fart”. The site has a complete list of all 243 games (at the time of this writing) that are available, allowing you to search the list and read the reviews/comments and see the rating.

Each game listing has information such as Developer, Genre, Price, Features (number of players, etc.), Ratings (in three categories, Violence, Sex, and Mature), Last Updated, a short description, and related links. On the site you can also use any number of filters sorting by almost all of those points of information as well as alphanumerically, genre, cost, rating, release (which sorts by actual release date and last date updated), game content (the violence, sex, and maturity ratings), and by feature. So, if you want a Platformer for 200 points with at least a 70% rating and Xbox LIVE Multiplayer functionality, you get ZP2K9. Hopefully this site will give cause for another push in Community Games creation and we’ll be able to see some true gems arise.
