One of the earliest PC games that I played was Microsoft Flight Simulator 5. Combined with a joystick we had picked up, this was one of the coolest experiences I remember having with early video games. For once I didn’t just have a controller or mouse/keyboard in my hands, but a joystick that was operating an airplane. Granted, I never did get the hang of landing, but it was still a blast.
It’s been nearly four years since the last installment of the franchise, and Microsoft has shown us that they have not forgotten it. Without much fanfare, they announced the new title, simply dubbed “Microsoft Flight”. They stated that the Windows-only title “will bring a new perspective to the long-standing genre, welcoming everyone, including long-time fans, to experience the magic of flight.”
