Sonic 4 First Impressions

So I just checked out the new Sonic 4 game on XBLA, and I decided to write up an opinion piece to offer my thoughts on the game. I have always been a fan of the Sonic games. The music is enticing, and the storyline is pretty good. I didn’t play a lot of the miscellaneous Sonic titles like Sonic Heroes, or the other ones for the Gamecube or whatever. I stuck mainly to the mainstream Sega titles, and even play them still to this day. When I started the Sonic 4 trial, I was very happy to see what I had hoped for.

The graphics are pretty awesome. It took me all the way back to the original Sonic, but the game incorporates the nuances from the later titles. The graphics and music are retro Sonic, but the “down A” spin is there. A lot of the game mechanics such as spinners, bumpers, and enemy design date back to the original Sonic, but the game is still very updated.

I absolutely loved what I was able to play. I would recommend this game to any Sonic fan, and to anyone who is looking for a genuinely fun game to play. I had a lot of fun with it, and I believe you all will too.
