Our Night In Azeroth – The Cataclysm Release Party

On the evening of Monday, December 6th we were given the great honor of being able to take part in one of the most amazing experiences we have ever witnessed. The Bloomington Applebee’s hosted a World of Warcraft: Cataclysm release party with all kinds of Wow-themed foodstuffs and drinks, contests, and tons of prizes. The whole party started at 9PM, and it ran through until midnight. It was quite possibly the best event I have been to yet.

Fans of the game from all over joined us to enjoy Mana and Health Potions, which were alcoholic drinks provided and mixed by Applebee’s, for just $3. They were served in 1800 Tequila Shakers that we got to take home. Applebee’s even had their own special menu with food items from in-game, such as Buzzard Bites, Runn Tum Tumbler Surprise, Dalaran Sharp & Chips, and much more. The treats were super tasty and didn’t cost much, which was even more awesome.

The GameStop staff were all in attendance, helping set up events and sharing smiles. Contests were held ranging from the most gold accumulated by a certain time, a costume contest, a Hoggar Raid, a race to a campsite, and coming up with an Alliance Battlecry. Tons of prizes were handed out from Applebee’s and GameStop such as WoW game cards, Applebee’s gift cards, copies of Cataclysm, and GameStop gift cards. There was even a set of raffles for a golden WoW statue straight from Blizzard and a Tankard ‘O Terror.

After the festivities were over and with the prizes all handed out, everyone headed over to GameStop to wait in line to pick up their copy of Cataclysm. Tons of people gathered inside GameStop to wait in line, and Applebee’s was nice enough to cook up some appetizers and frost some drinks to have over while customers were waiting in line.

The Applebee’s staff were on their game, never missing an empty glass, rushing to get potions to tables, and making sure those Buzzard Bites were hot and ready as soon as they were ordered. Everyone showed up to have a great time, and it was an experience that I will surely hold with me for a lifetime. If you’re ever in the Bloomington, IN area, be sure and stop in to the Applebee’s and meet some of these amazing people. The food is amazing, service is top-notch, and I would surely not go anywhere else for a one-of-a-kind experience such as this.

Our thanks go out to the GameStop staff, Applebee’s Bloomington, and everyone who showed up and had a hand in creating such a wonderful event. We also want to thank all of the people who participated in the contests, and those who made all of the prizes possible.
