Dark Souls Won’t Have A Demo – It’s Complicated

Dark Souls, the “spirit” sequel to the popular Demon’s Souls, will not have a demo when it releases later this year.

Hidetaka Miyazaki spoke on behalf of From Software to Japanese site 4gamer and announced this among other details about the upcoming game. Myazaki noted also that Dark Souls will last for about 60 hours of gameplay time and host about 100 enemies, whereas Demon’s Souls ran from 30-40 hours and hosted about 30 enemies.

Miyazaki also spoke about the difficulty of naming the sequel, listing a couple of names From went with before sticking with Dark Souls. First the company tried naming the game “Dark Ring,” but scrapped it due to the issue with the United Kingom, and it being slang. Second game “Dark Race,” which was scrapped due to possible racial perceptions.

The company named the game “Project Dark” just two days before its announcement at Tokyo Game Show.

See? It’s complicated.
