Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City On Its Way To The Drop Point

In May’s issue of Official Xbox Magazine there exist details of a new Resident Evil title that’s on the horizon. Since this, of course, is the internet, we surely have details early, and we have them for you.

Dubbed Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, the game is a multiplayer shooter that will feature tactical squad-based gameplay. The title takes you and three team mates back to 1998 when the T-Virus first triggered the outbreak. Operation Raccoon City will feature new characters, Vector, Beltway, Spectre, and Bertha, following their efforts to contain the outbreak and survive in the city. Teamwork will be essential for survival, as “This is not a one-versus-one game where you’ve got one clip full of ammo and zombies on you.  If you’ve ever thought of those times in an RE game when you thought, ‘I’d wish I had a big gun’, that’s what this game is.  It’s not fair to give people big guns, then take all the ammo away.”

Players will face zombies in the city that can track based on sight, sound, and smell. They will also be charged with destroying evidence showing that the outbreak ever occurred. Some information even indicates that players could be up against Leon Kennedy, trying to thwart his efforts to escape the virus. For more information on the game, you’ll need to pick up May’s issue of OXM.
We do know that the game will debut later this year for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
