Will Doom Receive a 3D Reboot?

It would seem that, according to a new rumor, a reboot film of Doom from Id Software may be soon making an appearance – in 3D. The report of such a rumor appeared on What’s Playing, though it didn’t have many details. Supposedly, however, Universal Pictures would like to bring back this film, and it’s now in early stages of development. The new film will include nothing of the 2005 Doom film, as it will introduce an all-new storyline. Given that the last Doom film didn’t make that much of an impression, the question is raised if this new film will travel deeper than the previous.

I personally liked the first Doom film. The storyline may not have been all that deep, but the core was there. Doom itself has never really had a set storyline. The game just took a dude, gave him huge weapons, and set him loose on all kinds of demons.

I certainly hope that Universal makes a masterpiece with this new film, if it is to make an appearance. The first-person scenes in the first film were pretty awesome, but they only lasted about a minute or so. Honestly, the film company HAS to know that we expect more, especially with this title.

What do you think about this possible reboot?
